Those that know me know how much my mom meant to me. She would talk about me nonstop to her friends and when people met her for the rest time she would open her arms and home to them as if they where her own. You never realize the trials and tribulations people have to face on a day to day base when diagnosed with cancer. It wasn't until my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2011 that I began to pay more attention. Losing my mom in 2013 changed my life forever and everything I do, I do for her. I participated in my first walk before my mom passed because I wanted her to know I was on her team and that she was going to beat this and have the chance to participate in the next walk with me as a survivor. Even though she will never have the chance to walk by my side I will continue to walk on her behalf. I look forward to having you join my team and walk by my side in Remembrance of Gwendolyn "MamaSterl" Florant.
The Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation (CCCF) has been working in NYC since 2003, funding screening progams for the uninsured, and providing much needed funds to young investigators who are committed to finding a cure for colorectal cancer. Funds from the Challenge will go directly to these programs and allow CCCF to spread the message that colorectal cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable with early screening.
